LOOK FOR PROSPECTING GOLD IN YOUR JUNK MAIL

Carefully examine your junk mail before you toss it into the recycling box because you never know if your next big selling opportunity will be hiding in those printed pages just waiting for you to find it. Companies and marketers’ who send out direct mail on a regular basis do so because they make money from it, or they would not be sending it. Therefore look for ways that you can sell to these businesses, or for ways that you can sell your goods or services through these businesses. For instance if you provide copy writing and editing services can you improve their mailer? If so contact them, set an appointment, and pitch them with your ideas on how they can improve their mail outs and benefit because of it. If you’re in the printing business, can you land their printing account? Who knows, but it’s worth a telephone call or personal appointment to find out. And if you sell widgets, can you take advantage of this company’s mail order distribution channels to sell your products to their existing customers and new prospects? Maybe, if your widget is relevant in some way to their business and target audience and of course if an equitable and mutually beneficial deal can be arranged for both sides. In a nutshell, examine all junk mail, because sometimes it contains opportunities that just have to be identified and developed.
